Mind Body Breath Massage Therapy is a name that represents the 3 components that align a person with their optimum healing potential.

MIND: Quiet and Focused


BODY: Soft


BREATH: Deep

This is easier then you think! Its best to start with deep breathing, taking complete inhales into the lower abdomen and letting the air flow out. Deep breathing engages the parasympathetic (”rest and relax”) nervous system and helps you become aware of the sensations in your body. When you become aware of your body, you start to notice the tension that is being held. This allows you to consciously soften as much as possible. Without even realizing it, you are now mentally focused on your body and breath.

Why does this help you heal? Because no one “heals” you, you heal yourself. The body heals itself, and the therapist does everything they can to aid that process. This goes for all healthcare as well, for example medication alone doesn’t heal, it is what your body does with it.

Pertaining to hands on therapy such as Myofascial Release, Mind Body Breath allows for the techniques to work better, the releases to happen more fully and for the results to be greater. These 3 components allow your body to accept the technique more deeply and for you to become more profoundly aware of the changes occurring. The less tension you are holding, the more access the therapist has to all the layers of soft tissue (muscles/fascia).

Deep Breathing, relaxing the body and focusing the mind can be done at any time and can enrich your life. It allows you to be more focused and involved in what is going on moment to moment and less focused on the constant barrage of thoughts. It increases clarity and decreases stressful feelings, allowing you to just “be”. All in all it brings you more in tune with yourself and resultant of that the benefits are truly endless.
